HOMEMADE SUPERBOWL DORM ROOM ORGANIC CHICKEN WINGS.
Yeah. I did it.
My grocery store had organic chicken wings cheaper than regular chicken, for some reason, so I was quick to snatch it up. I bought 3 packages, ended up making two, and freezing one. They were DELICIOUS.
- Chili Paste
- Oyster Sauce (seriously, I use it in everything. It just adds a wonderful dimension of flavour)
- Lemon Juice
- Captain Morgan Dark Spiced Rum
- Water/chicken stock
Lessons I learned; more rum, less ketchup, more lemon juice, less butter. If you base the sauce upon ketchup and butter, it gets too thick and too grossly sweet.
I simmered the sauce while I tossed the wings in a seasoned mixture of flour and cornstarch, then pan-fried the chicken wings in my lovely giant $7 wok that I literally use for EVERYTHING. After the wings were nicely golden brown and crispy, I drained the oil and poured in some of the sauce, just enough to coat them, and made sure all of the wings were coated nicely.
Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing, and you’ve got one damn impressive (Superbowl) snack on your table. Boo yeah.
